Chicagoland Speedway - Joliet, IL
News and Notes:
Chicago’s Camry…The 360 OTC Racing team will utilize chassis No. 105 this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. This car was last run in the 600-mile event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. *
What Happened Last Week…The 360 OTC Racing team was set to start the event from inside the top five before Mother Nature intervened. Though Mayfield was the third fastest car when rain began to fall during qualifying, NASCAR was forced to cancel qualifying and base the starting grid on points, thus leaving the 360 OTC
Racing team out of the race. *
Mayfield’s Career Stats…Mayfield hopes to make his 410th career NASCAR Nextel Cup Series start when he takes the green flag for the event Sunday afternoon. Mayfield made his first career Cup Series start in October 1993 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and finished 32nd (qualified 38th) in his first Cup Series start at
Chicagoland Speedway in 2001. *
Mayfield at Chicagoland…Mayfield has made six starts on the 1.5-mile speedway during his Cup Series career and has started inside the top 20 on four occasions. He has also earned three top-10 finishes at the Joliet, Ill., track. *
BDR at Chicago…Competitors driving Bill Davis Racing-owned cars have been racing at Chicagoland Speedway since 2001 and have made nine starts. *
Chicago’s Broadcast Schedule…Qualifying for Sunday afternoon’s event is scheduled to start at 4:10 p.m. ET Friday, July 13. The 267-lap event is scheduled to start at 3:55 p.m. ET Sunday July 15, and will broadcast LIVE on TNT (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio.
Jeremy Mayfield on This Weekend…
“Last weekend was really disappointing because we had a car that was obviously fast, and I think we would have raced pretty well. But, sometimes things are just out of our control, and last weekend in Daytona was one of those instances. Nonetheless, I think it boosted the confidence of the team a bit, and hopefully we
can carry that into this weekend at Chicagoland. We’re getting closer and closer to getting over the hump, you know, and we’re not quite there yet, but I’m proud of this 360 OTC Racing crew because they’ve really stuck together and not given up. Hopefully the second half of the season will be better for us than the first.”
